Get a deep, steady burn with this 60-minute functional cardio sculpt workout combining Pilates, mobility and total body strength training. This advanced workout is designed to challenge endurance, stability and full-body conditioning while remaining joint aware and low impact.
The workout starts with a cardio and mobility warm up to heat up the entire body and prepare the joints. You will then move into a demanding functional sculpt section using bodyweight exercises such as squats, lunges, kicks, push-up variations, up-and-down transitions and mini handstand-style movements, with modifications provided throughout.
The mat section uses ankle weights and a Pilates ball to target the obliques, outer thighs, glutes and abdominal muscles with controlled, sculpting exercises. A kneeling arms and shoulders segment using light hand weights adds upper body strength and endurance before finishing with a lengthening stretch to improve flexibility and mobility.
This workout is ideal for experienced exercisers looking for a long, effective session that blends functional training with Pilates-style sculpting.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
