Best Strength Training Workout DVDs

Strength training is essential if your goal is to gain muscle and to lose body fat. A lot of people think that hours of cardio exercise will do the trick when wanting to lose fat, but the fact is that muscle burns fat! The more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories even at rest. Muscle also looks great! If you lose fat you are just creating a slimmer version of you, but if you build muscle in all the right areas you can actually create a new body shape. 

If you are an avid workout DVD user and want to move from circuit training or body sculpting into some actual weight training, then I highly recommend Jari Love's DVDs. The Get Ripped and Get Extremely Ripped series of DVDs will teach you all you need to know about how to weight train safely and effectively. If the instructor is anything to go by then Jari Love has got a body to show that her techniques obviously work! She is totally ripped and has had kids! Her abs are absolutely amazing,  but she isn't bulky in any way! 

A lot of women steer clear of weight training because they are scared of bulking up. Let me tell you right now that this is an absolute myth – women cannot get bulky because they simply don't have enough testosterone! The body building women you see make muscle gain a career and pretty much have to work at it full time to look like they do! If you are using weights for an hour a few days a week you will definitely not bulk up!

Jari Love's DVDs include some which are straight weight training and others which also incorporate cardio intervals. The original Get Ripped series is traditional weight training at its best. There is a lot of instruction on form and technique as well as a break down of how many calories you can burn and a lot of helpful exercise advice.

The Get Extremely Ripped series as well as the newer DVDs such as Hardcore 1000, Bootcamp and Revved to the Max are more upbeat and include cardio intervals to maximize your calories burned.

Great Workouts 
I have used Jari Love's videos for years and they only get better and better. In an hour or less you will get an intense complete body workout that will leave you sweating and burning! Jari is a great motivator, her queues are accurate, she motivating and seems to be able to predict when I've had just about enough and pushes me on toward those last few reps that make all the difference. She's not overly perky like some trainers I've used and she is not chatty. Using the same video over and over, anybody knows those cute comments aren't cute anymore, they're annoying. None of that with her. I am always challenged with Jari's workouts and I can feel and see the results.

Get Extremely Ripped Hardcore 1000 mixes things up 
The reason I really like this workout is because it alternates between cardio and weights. It gives me a chance to catch my breath and cool down, while also working on my strength! But there is also an option to do just the cardio portion of the DVD, which I have been doing lately because I like to do my own strength training, as it is more advanced. The cardio is great, gets me sweating, and it's defnintely not as daunting or boring as a long run. Jari Love is an excellent trainer because she is very warm and kind in encouraging viewers, instead of being too tough or mean. She also places an emphasis on the fact that it's okay if you can't finish the exercise or need to take it down to the first level. We can't all be perfect and finish a difficult circuit, and she understands that!

Revved to the Max is great weight training – very efficient!
Jari's dvds are great for serious weight training and definitely get your heart rate up at the same time! This particular dvd didn't have specific "cardio" segments like some of her other ones do, but it definitely gives a great efficient work out and your heart rate is elevated while you're doing Jari's compound weight training intervals, i highly recomend it.

Get Extremely Ripped Boot Camp will Get You in Shape! 
Jari Love gets things done. I have all of her videos, and I must say that for the most part, they are all in my "go to" list in my workout regimen. Jari beautifully marries weights and cardio into a tough combination that will get you fit, particularly for endurance. The videos don't push you to lift the heaviest weights that you can, but to challenge yourself to be able to stay within the 3 to 5 minute range for each muscle worked. The side benefit? By incorporating this style of exercise into my weekly routines, I have literally eliminated injuries. Also, at nearly 50 years old, I should be complaining about arthritis and struggling with obesity based upon my genetic heritage. Neither could be farther from the truth. This is by far the safest and most effective workout.
