Best Fat Burning Workout DVDs

If you are an avid user of workout DVDs then it is likely that one of your goals is to burn fat. Although nutrition is very important when trying to attain that lean physique, you can also help the fat burning process along by doing the right kind of workouts. In the past long duration cardio sessions where your heart rate remains steady throughout the workout were favoured for burning fat. Although this may be a great way to start if you are a beginner and your fitness level isn't that great, there are other ways of burning more fat and calories in less time! One of the favoured methods is HIIT training. HIIT (high intensity interval training) is based on alternating between very high intensity bursts (85% of your max heart rate) and active recovery lower intensity intervals (just long enough to catch your breath ready for the next high intensity burst). This sort of training can be performed with any cardio equipment or during outdoor workouts such as jogging, swimming, cycling etc., however, my favourite way of doing HIIT is using workout DVDs.

The reason why HIIT training is so effective is because it really pushes you to your limits while you are doing the workout, therefore burning heaps of calories, and it creates an awesome after burn effect, which means you burn tons of calories for hours after your workout. Lets face it, if you work out for 30-60 mins a day, that is only a small fraction of your day, but if you are able to elevate your metabolism to burn more calories even once you have finished working out, then you will have much more success with your fat loss goals!

The Firm Workout DVDSThere are so many cardio workout DVDs to choose from and many, nowadays, are based on the interval training method. One workout DVD brand that has been using interval training to achieve maximum results for 20 odd years is The Firm. Many of The Firm workout DVDs alternate between cardio and weights segments. The cardio gets your heart rate up high, and the weights segments let you recover your heart rate, but in an active way. The great thing about this type of interval training is that you are also getting the added benefit of building muscle. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate will be, which means the more calories your body will burn even at rest. So you can see that by coupling interval training with weights you are getting the best benefits from your workout.

The Firm have heaps of different workout DVDs based on the above mentioned principles. Some of my favourite include: The Ultimate Fat Burning workout, Total Body Time Crunch, Power Half Hour, Cardio Overdrive and Bootcamp Maximum Calorie  Burn. These workouts are designed to take the guess work out of fat burning. If you use this type of training along with good nutrition, you will break through weight loss plateaus and reach your goals in the fastest possible way.
