Best Yoga DVD Review

I was never been a huge fan of Yoga as I always thought you have to sweat and puff in order to get a good workout. As I got older, however, I thought I'd have a look to see what all the fuss was about. After all, Yoga has been around forever and everyone seems to be raving about it's benefits. So after purchasing a few workout DVDs I became convinced that Yoga is an awesome workout after all  - and it can be surprisingly difficult too!

I have outlined the main benefits of Yoga in another of my articles so I won't go into too much detail here, but lets just say there are a whole heap of them! After my very first session my legs felt a bit like jelly because I had never done such extensive stretching before. I also felt a bit light headed because of all the deep breathing. After a few sessions I definitely felt more flexible and perhaps even more alert as oxygen energizes the brain.

I have never been much of a stretcher after workouts, even though I know it is essential to prevent injury. So I thought adding Yoga to my workout routine would help me to stretch whilst I am working out – so somehow I wouldn't consider it to be such a waste of time. I really recommend all exercisers to add some Yoga into their routine. We live in such a fast paced society that even our workouts can be frantic. Yoga is just the thing to bring some centering and relaxation back into your day.

So what is one of my favorite Yoga DVDs? I love Shape Yoga Long, Lean and Strong. It's a dynamic, flowing Yoga routine that incorporates all the classic poses into one punchy 30 minute routine. It is still fast paced enough to work up a sweat and burn some calories, but it has all the lengthening and stretching properties of a more traditional Yoga routine.
