Workout DVDs for Strength Training

One way you can tell if you are getting any benefit is to see whether you are able to start using slightly heavier weights. Are you progressing! Once a week would definitely not be enough for building consistent muscle.

Jillian Michaels has a whole range of workout dvds, so if you like her as an instructor, why don't you try to get a few more and incorporate them on a more regular basis. Most of her dvds are quite short anyway so you can still do your running and cardio along side. 

I love doing workout dvds and include weight training in my routine on a regular basis. I do Cathe Friedrich dvds, which are more intense with heavier weights and less reps. I do find that since I have started on her workout dvds, I have notice a significant difference in my muscle tone and definition.
